Challenges and opportunities in the food and drink sector

The food industry has been adversely affected, as have many other industries, due to the recent economic crisis. However, even with the economic crisis, there are signs that the industry is expanding, such as the 2010 Kraft/Cadbury agreement, thus showing that firms in the sector are taking more risks than previously, due to recent improvements in economic conditions and stability, globally.

However, significant challenges remain for the sector. These involve continued risks within the economic environment, as well as new regulatory provisions, regarding food processing and safety.
